After Care

Cosmetic Tattoo

As with all tattoos, cosmetic tattoo procedures require after care in order to heal correctly and to maintain their vibrancy in colour and appearance. At On Point Cosmetic Tattoo Studio we are committed to providing you with the information and ongoing care you need to take care of your skin following any of our treatments.

To achieve best results following your procedure we recommend you follow an after-care regime. You will be given information following your treatment, however if you do have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact your consultant for advice.

Pre-Procedure:

  • Do not pick, tweeze, tint or wax within 48 hours of your procedure.
  • For eyeliner treatments, lash extensions will need to be removed at least 2 days prior.
  • No tanning or excessive sun exposure/skin damage at least one week before.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during or for 2 days after Eyeliner treatments.
  • If prone to cold sores, it is recommended that you obtain antiviral tablets from the chemist to prevent an outbreak when undergoing lip treatments.
  • Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and other blood thinning medications for at least 7 days prior to your treatment (unless specifically prescribed by your doctor). If you are unsure, please consult your GP.
  • Do not drink coffee or alcohol 48 hours beforehand due to blood thinning effects.
  • Do not workout on the day of your procedure.
  • No retinol products on the treatment area for 8-12 weeks beforehand and not at all afterwards as this will fade your tattoo.
  • Do not have injectables or invasive skin treatments at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment.
  • A skin patch test is offered on request; however, allergic reactions are rare.

Post Procedure:

In the three to six days following treatment you may experience the following. These are normal and part of the healing process:

  • Minor swelling or redness
  • Mild tenderness in the area
  • Itchiness in the area
  • Dry flaky skin

After Care:

  • Apply aftercare cream to your brows twice daily to aid in healing for the first 10 days. Hydration and protection is key to the healing process.
  • No excessive exercise for the first 3-4 days as sweat will encourage loss of colour.
  • No saunas, spas or steam rooms for 7-10 days.
  • No swimming for 10 days.
  • No retinol products on the treated area at all as this will fade your tattoo.
  • Do not expose your healing skin to direct sunlight, wind, tanning beds or water for at least 10 days.
  • Do not pick, peel or scratch your skin during the healing process to avoid scarring, uneven pigment and infection.
  • For lip treatments, if you feel the onset of a cold sore, the use of Zovirax cream is recommended to avoid infection and cold sore breakouts.
  • For eyeliner treatments it is recommended to avoid the use of contact lenses for 48 hours following your procedure.

Important Notes:

Your cosmetic tattoo procedure will require a touch up. You will be required to attend a follow up Perfection Visit, approximately 6-8 weeks after your first appointment.

It will take time for your cosmetic tattoo to settle following the procedure. The intensity of the colour will be much darker or brighter than the expected outcome immediately following your procedure.

We recommend brows be maintained approximately every 12-18 months to keep them On Point.
